I have lived in the Melissa Independent School District for 16 years and observed the changes and growth of the district and city. For the year prior to running for a place on the Board of Trustees, I attended every school board meeting, in their entirety, except for one. I wanted to understand fully how a public school board functions and its relationship to the city.
For the 40+ years previous to running, I had served on boards for churches, Chamber of Commerce, dental societies, and a private school. I realized the functions and workings of a public school board are quite different than the boards previously mentioned.
My 2 children have graduated, so I have no agenda except to serve the 8500 kids that are projected to attend our schools next year.
I have established great relationships with people who are on the staff of MISD at all levels. Because of these relationships, I get honest, direct, relevant feedback about every situation and happenings in the district.
At the present time, I am proud of the accomplishments of the MISD Board Of Trustees, not my accomplishments, but the accomplishments of the MISD Board as a team.
In the future, I will be posting relevant information about future additions and improvements within the district.
I ask for your vote and support of continued success of MISD.
Sincerely,
Bill Gray
There are no individual accomplishments concerning school boards. The accomplishments are entirely the results of a board working as a team with a sole purpose.
The question that we ask in every situation is:
“WHAT IS BEST FOR THE KIDS?”

All programs are funded at a high level.

Passed 2 bond referendums with one of the highest pass rates in the state.
Started School ISD police department and passed policy to permit staff to carry to protect our students.
Voted for legislation that helped maintain local control of our district.
Completed all board training hours during my tenure.
